Our team of brewers and staff consists of all local family and friends. The cornerstone for our success is founded
here in the camaraderie of the Backwoods family. We embrace the idea of work and play as a team.
Where the Gifford Pinchot National Forest meets the Carson valley, you will find us busily brewing craft beers from
the best ingredients found in the Northwest. Backwoods Brewing was founded by the Waters family in July of 2012
Prior to that, Jim Waters had taught his sons the art of home brewing before they flew the nest, but the boys came
back after college with the dream of starting a brewery in their hometown. Many beer batches and napkin doodles
later, witha can-do attitude and some carpentry know-how, the Waters saw their dream finally come to life. The
first brews that came out of the pub were made on a small one-barrel system. However, increasing demand and
growing awareness of the brew pub allowed the family to bump up to a 7-barrel, and finally the 20-barel system
that we brew on today. Our beer can be found throughout the NW, including Washington, Oregon and Tdaho.
Whatever you do, don’t miss out on the renowned pizza at our original pub in Carson, or the loaded tots and wraps
at our second location in Portland, Oregon. All we ask is that you trya pint or two as well!
